Handmade folk fabric striped table runner

This fabric is completely hand crafted in Songjiang. There’s many types of stripe in this bold blue, sometimes checked fabric too with red and cream. The fabric was often given as a dowry. Using ancient techniques and tools, the yarns are hand spun then hand woven into fabric and then hand dyed in ancient baths. Each piece is made around 10 meters long and in variable widths but usually narrow. Perfect for us to craft into runners, make bright table layouts and talk about over dinner!
 
As this fabric is entirely hand crafted it’s far from perfect and there are some marks, quirks and nobs of yarn here and there. This is in every piece. It is not a precise craft which is part of its charm.
